A
total of 58 students and faculty members from the Energy and Mining Polytechnic
(PEP) Bandung conducted a study visit to the exploration drilling equipment facilities
and heavy equipment workshops operated by the Center for Mineral, Coal, and
Geothermal Resources (PSDMBP), the Geological Agency, on Wednesday morning,
June 25, 2025. This activity aimed to provide participants with firsthand
exposure to the facilities and technologies utilized in geological resource
exploration.
The
program commenced in the Lantanum Room, Building B of the PSDMBP Laboratory,
where the Infrastructure Service Team for Mineral, Coal, and Geothermal
Investigations welcomed the delegation and delivered an introductory
presentation. During this introductory session, the students were introduced to
PSDMBP’s key facilities, particularly those related to exploration drilling and
supporting infrastructure, including the heavy equipment workshop.
Following
the briefing, participants were divided into several groups based on the
designated visit locations. Some participants were directed to Building E,
which houses various types of exploration drilling equipment, while others
group proceeded to Building D, where geophysical instruments are stored, and another
group was guided to Building F, which stored components of down-hole drilling
machinery.
At
each location, technical personnel from the Infrastructure Service Team
provided in-depth explanations about the functions, specifications, and
operational principles of the equipment. In Building E, the students can explored
different drilling machines and learned about their mechanisms. In Building D,
they were introduced to geophysical instruments such as the GPR-MALA and
AMT-Zonge, along with their roles in subsurface detection. Meanwhile, in
Building F, students had the opportunity to directly observe essential
components such as drill rods, core barrels, and drill bits, supported by
detailed technical explanations regarding their usage in drilling operations.
The
visit was not only informative but also interactive. Students actively engaged
with the technical staff by posing questions, which were addressed thoroughly
and constructively. Through this field visit, it is expected that students
gained valuable practical insights to complement and deepen their theoretical
knowledge in the fields of energy and mining.
Mahasiswa PEP Bandung
Belajar Langsung di Fasilitas PSDMBP
Sebanyak
Acara
diawali di Ruang Lantanum, Gedung B Laboratorium PSDMBP, tempat Tim Kerja
Pelayanan Sarana Penyelidikan Mineral, Batubara, dan Panas Bumi menyambut
rombongan dan memberikan paparan umum. Dalam sesi pembekalan ini, para
mahasiswa diperkenalkan dengan berbagai fasilitas milik PSDMBP, khususnya
peralatan pemboran eksplorasi serta sarana pendukung berupa bengkel alat berat.
Setelah sesi pembekalan, peserta
kunjungan dibagi menjadi beberapa kelompok berdasarkan tujuan lokasi kunjungan.
mesin bor bawah permukaan (down-hole).
Di setiap lokasi, staf teknis dari Tim
Kerja Pelayanan Sarana memberikan penjelasan mengenai fungsi, spesifikasi, dan
cara kerja masing-masing alat. Di Gedung E, mahasiswa mempelajari secara
langsung mesin bor beserta pengoperasiannya.
